![]() Whatever maybe going on 'under the hood', Entourage provides the most practical and workable user interface and appearance and I for one have tried all the other newer ones but none can do for me what Entourage does. Despite all the argy bargy about old software etc., I am really in tune with his wish to stay with Entourage. I was sad to see the negativity displayed towards David's wish to keep with Entourage. What kind of account - Exchange, POP/IMAP? ![]() What exactly is it doing when you say "not showing all emails properly"? Basically abandon using Entourage altogether and live with Outlook. One reply suggests first installing Office/Outlook 2011, importing everything, and then upgrade to Outlook 2016 and import everything again. I would have stayed with OS 10.8 but now Apple has abandoned providing security patches for that OS, and you are told that puts you in a very precarious position if you stay in 10.8. Thus there is no way to keep using it without some type of "fix".Īlthough I would very much like to keep using Entourage as it does all that I need and I have been using it since it came out, it would seem at this point maybe us former users are now being forced into a different client, such as Outlook or Mail. I upgraded from Mac OS 10.8.5 to 10.11 and the program does seem to at least open, but it immediately hangs up and goes into the "not responding" mode and then you simply have to force quit. In my case, I was using Entourage%uFEFF 2008 web services edition on an exchange account. Better yet, take this opportunity to ditch Entourage. If your account type is IMAP, or Exchange, just delete the data files and start fresh. It introduces a huge opportunity for data loss. ![]() That's not possible with Entourage or Outlook since Microsoft believes that packing everything into a data file is a good thing. If there's an issue with Apple's Mail app, I don't lose my email data since I can go locate the email data and manually get out it. I prefer Apple's built-in Mail, Calendar, and Contacts apps because they are mostly problem free. In the end, Outlook on Mac is seriously hobbled compared to the Windows version. Outlook 2016 seems to be an even bigger improvement. When Microsoft released Outlook 2011 for Mac, it was a decent improvement, but it still had all of the problems that Entourage did, but it was a little better. Honestly, I think that Entourage is crap. Outlook 2011 works good on El Capitan, and so does Outlook 2016. If you can get it to work, I guess that's good, but you really should upgrade to a newer version of Office. You're expecting eight year old software to work on a new Apple OS. I don't recommend using Entourage at all. ![]() ![]() This War of Mine: Final Cut marks an end of an era for 11 bit studios, so let’s hear what the art director Przemyslaw Marszal, the person who created the unique style of This War of Mine, has to say: “We wanted to put the last touch to this phenomenon. His love of competition meant the birth of the Wally Class in 1999 was inevitable. He took gold in the Mumm 30 class at the 1998 world championships and silver in the European championships that same year. He went on to win two European championships in the Six Metre class, and placed third in the worlds in 1983. He was soon racing himself and, in 1979, introduced the J/24 class to Italy. There I learnt everything about the sea and sailing.” He’d also spend time with the pro sailors on their boats, to complete his immersion. “We would go fishing very early in the morning and then go diving, picking up urchins or starfish to sell in the town square to the few tourists who were coming then, all so we could buy our glass of Coca-Cola. When he wasn’t sailing on his father’s boat out of the town’s pretty port, he was with his friends. He grew up in Milan but holidayed in Portofino every year, for the whole three months of summer. It was a neat end-of-chapter in Bassani’s life: a return to the sea. “So I thought I should try to set up a little business to promote this kind of new generation of boat.” And with that, in 1994, Wally Yachts was born, the company capitalising on the name of Bassani’s first boat – “and because our boats would also be a bit ‘wally’!” “People started saying, ‘but that’s a cruising boat, with teak and air-conditioning and everything, and she’s as fast as we are’.” Despite the attention, his boat remained apart Bassani could not understand why no one was copying him. He spent two years cruising and racing Wallygator, occasionally beating genuine raceboats to line honours. Luca Bassani has always felt at home on sailing yachts He was young, he was new in the market and he didn’t have anything to lose.” The only designer that would listen to me was Luca Brenta. I also wanted a forward master cabin, a self-tacking jib and no backstays. “We are talking about 1989 and first of all I wanted a carbon fibre mast, and at that time the only boat with a carbon fibre mast was the New Zealand America’s Cup boat. The industry was 20 years behind and nobody wanted to progress,” he says. “They were scared to put their reputation at risk in delivering a boat that could be too innovative. No boat then on the market matched his requirements and nor would any boat designers take his commission. “Finally, after a long period of being very, very busy, for a while I was free, very rich and I said, ‘OK, now I want the boat of my dreams’.”įinding it was easier said than done. Well below 40 and with a very deep wallet, he did what most people would do – he went looking for a superyacht. In 1989 he got rich after the sale of the family firm, BTicino, a world leader in electrical components. ![]() The first boat he ever built was actually for himself. When you look and see that everybody is doing the same as us, you say ‘why didn’t you just come to Wally?’”īassani photographed by Helmut Newton on Wallygator ![]() It’s a good number, for big sailing yachts like this, but I think the market could have trusted us a bit more. “I think we’ve deserved to sell more than 46, 47 boats. I don’t think it’s too much to say that Genie has influenced the last 20 years.” But there’s an obvious flip-side to any new thinking. “That kind of layout, that kind of style and deck, it’s clear. “You look around the market today and I would say that 95 per cent of yachts from 40 to 140 feet have copied Genie of the Lamp,” Bassani says, referring to the 24.24 metre sloop he launched in 1995. His sailing output generates slightly less attention but has had an even greater impact, not just setting trends but a whole new direction for superyacht design. Car designers will point to Bassani’s iconic WallyPower 118 as an inspiration, and if the sharp, faceted model cruises into port anywhere, the cameraphones come out. His company, the world-famous Wally Yachts, is one of the few boat brands to go mainstream, like Riva or maybe even Chris-Craft. If mimicry is flattery then Luca Bassani should spend his entire life blushing. Sailers, powerboats, tenders, displacement superyachts – his Wallys are distinctive, unforgettable vessels that have shaped the industry says Stewart Campbell. From the moment he launched Wally Yachts in 1994, Luca Bassani has never looked back. Doing this repeatedly will eventually cause the gastric pouch to stretch. Failing to keep to this diet can lead to eating more food than your stomach can handle. Gastric bypass patients need to maintain a very strict diet of tiny meals. It can occur naturally as your body attempts to adapt to the new arrangement of your digestive tract, or it can happen as a result of over-eating. Stretching of the gastric pouch happens for two reasons. Though the size of your new stomach is dramatically smaller after surgery, over time your stomach pouch can stretch. ![]() The human body has a marvelous ability to adapt to changes, and trimming down the size of your stomach is not a guaranteed fix for weight loss. Even after you are back on solid foods, which can be weeks or months after surgery, you are going to be on a diet that may only allow you to consume 300-600 calories a day. This is partly due to the restrictive diet you will be placed on to allow your new stomach to heal. Nearly everyone who goes through a bariatric procedure will experience a dramatic initial weight loss. These surgeries can either be performed laparoscopically where the surgeon works remotely with the aid of special tools inserted through small incisions in your abdomen, or they can be performed as traditional abdominal surgery. There are many more types of weight loss surgeries, but these are the most common, and other surgeries are often a variation on one of these three types of procedure. This leaves a small pouch at the top of the stomach that fills quickly with food, helping you feel full after eating only a small amount of food. Taking a different approach than the previous two surgeries, gastric band surgery involves placing a restrictive band around your stomach. Your surgeon will cut away a large portion of your stomach, sewing the remainder into a small gastric pouch. Unlike a gastric bypass that creates a new route for your digestive tract, a gastric sleeve surgery results in a smaller, sleeve-shaped stomach. ![]() This allows gastric juices to mix with the small amount of food you can now fit in your smaller stomach. Your remaining stomach and duodenum are left in place and connected to the other end of this newly routed bit of intestines. This pouch is then attached to a portion of your small intestine that has been re-routed. In this surgery, a small section of your stomach is cut away and sewn into a tiny stomach pouch. It is one of the most commonly performed weight loss surgeries worldwide, and has one of the better balances of potential risks weighed against the amount of weight patients typically lose. Known officially as the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, this surgery is considered by some to be the standard bearer for bariatric surgery. Below is a quick overview of the various types of bariatric surgery. All of these options have the same basic goal-to help you consume fewer calories.Įach of these surgeries in their own way helps to either restrict the amount of food you can eat or slow it down as it passes through your stomach. These surgeries are intended for people who have a body mass index (BMI) over 35 and at least one other co-morbidity such as diabetes or heart disease. What is Bariatric Surgery?īariatric surgery is a term used to cover a number of different procedures and surgeries that affect the digestive tract. To find out how this happens, we need to take a look at how weight loss surgery works. The fact is, nearly one in five people who undergo weight loss surgery end up gaining back their excess body weight within the first several years after surgery. It would be easy to think that permanently changing the size of your stomach would fix weight gain problems forever. The option of weight loss surgery can seem like a perfect solution in this case. The up and down weight swings are one reason people become discouraged with dieting alone as a solution to obesity. Gaining weight back after being on a diet is something many people are familiar with. ![]() This can be particularly true when it comes to the human body. There are a lot of options available for arranging and organizing what you see on screen.Īnother nice feature is that it can be set up to play back loops with as many repetitions as you like - and will increase the tempo along the way, according to how much increase and how many repetitions before each increase. Slow down (speed up) adjustments are in 1% increments up or down. Like most players - you can set it to play a song once, repeat it endlessly, play through your list, or select tunes at random. I use it more that iTunes - it is my player. It will allow for playlists to be generated from within a playlist (library). One of the things that sold me on mTrax is that it is a music player too, that you can build a play list so that you aren't having to load individual music files each time you what to hear something - and will play back most any format. What other things are important in a slow downer? These are the list of comparitive qualities that I have as part of my comparison: I have it on my to-do list to do a comparison of a bunch of different slow downers. I also use Amazing Slow Downer which does a good job of preserving the pitch and quality of the track. Oh yeah - thought it would be worth adding - even the setting you make with the 10 band equalizer will be the same. Its hard for me to not say anything when the opportunity presents itself.Īs I said above - I haven't found a program that has more features or works better. No more re-tuning the instrument or tweaking the pitch in the program, or even opening or loading the file for each tune when you want to play it. All the songs are in different keys but still tweaked to standard pitch. And I have another that I use to practice solo material with the guitar. I have a list in A, one in D, and one in G. So the next time you start the program - all your settings for every music file is still there. Its nice to let the player go through a playlist with 50 tunes - and all the tunes in the list are tweaked to the same pitch. Whatever you did to the tunes the last time you played them in mTrax (pitch, tempo, loops of cut sections from the tune), that's the way they are saved, automatically - until you change it again. I keep a ledger with the location settings to retrace my steps. With ASD you start over each time you leave the tune. I very much like the idea of being able to save each tune separately, complete with its speed settings and markers. From what I gather transcribe has more options. I think I've only done it once and I can't recall the details but I remember that it was quite the eye-opening experience. Try listening to one of your own recordings slowed down. Just when I really want to study something. I use Transcribe! on my computer and ASD on my phone. Other programs of this type exist, but the Amazing Slow Downer does more than I need, is problem free and easy to use, and their computer support is better than any other software I am currently using. I use the playlist function for just about everything I play on a regular basis. I use it to speed up/slow down software, but it does lots of other useful things. Except for the operating system, I use this software more than anything else.
